Since 2015 Christian Wijnants is part of the Swarovski Collective, which was established in 1999 to push the boundaries of crystal use in fashion. Being part of the Swarovski Collective, the designer gets support to experiment with crystals in his collections, contributing to the innovative use of crystals in fashion. Wijnants already designed three collections incorporating the iconic Swarovski crystals, his latest being the Summer 2016 collection. Christian Wijnants first collection as part of the Swarovski Collective was his Summer 2015 collection. He magnificently incorporated glistening Swarovski crystals into a collection highlighted by leather and latex materials, creating an interesting mix of contrasting textures enhanced by intense tropical green colours and aquatic hues. This fusion of technical fabrics and crystals developed through traditional craftsmanship resulted into a unique collection inspired by François Truffaut’s film ‘The Wild Child’. Marble and opaline Swarovski crystals were dotted across the collection with the depicted crochet top, craftily embedded with 2000 crystals, as an exquisite example of Christian Wijnants innovative application of crystals in his collections.
